The Seattle Police Department released video footage of an SUV being lit on fire while an officer was inside.
The combination of bodycam and surveillance footage shows a man walking down the street on Thursday in Seattle’s South Lake Union neighborhood with a long stick on fire. The officer pulls up and yells at the man to stop. The officer fired shots through the window after the man throws the burning stick through the windshield.
The 37-year-old suspect was not hurt.
SPD officer Caleb Pomazon was taken to Harborview Medical Center with non-life-threatening burns.
Pomazon has been with the department for one year. He is currently on paid administrative leave per department policy.
